The big annual arts weekend for Columbia is here! The former Festival of the Arts weekend is now Artrageous weekend. The events kick off with Artrageous Friday [http://www.artrageousfridays.com/] tonight (Fri, Oct 11, 2013) from 6-9 pm.
Weekend venue highlights/notes:
* The Columbia Art League (CAL) organizes the Boone County Art Show at Boone County National Bank (also on the FCMo calendar): Bone County National Bank and the Columbia Art League present the 54th Annual Boone County Art Show, located at 720 East Broadway inside the bank. Nearly 200 works from professional and non-professional artists are on display and on sale for art enthusiasts. The show is free and open to the public on Saturday, October 12 from 9 am to 5 pm and Sunday, October 13 from 11 am to 5 pm.
* Landmark Bank no longer hosts Visions (photography show) during this arts weekend. They now host New Visions in conjunction with CAL Art in the Park every June.
* Orr Street Studios has a reception on Friday night, cool art for kids on Saturday from 12-3 pm, and a talk on Sunday afternoon at 2 pm (see FCMo calendar).
* George Caleb Bingham Gallery has a reception and artist talk on Friday night, and will be open for special hours (10 am to 3 pm) on Saturday.
* Makes Sense (9th Street) will have found objects and paintings by Mark Koch with snacks and drinks, and Saturday, 12-3 pm, everyone can make origami with Elsa. FMCo note: They have wonderful and unusual drinks and foods to try–check to be sure kids are getting the non-alcoholic version.
* PS:Gallery always has wonderful art, and will have smoothie and pretzel samples with poetry readings on the half-hour on Friday night. Mike Sleadd will also be talking about his art. The gallery is open all weekend.
