Join Berenice Dimas, a queer Xicana indigena scholar, activist, and health educator for an interactive workshop on tools for self-care. Berenice will introduce students to curanderismo, indigenous healing traditions of Mexico, and how these traditions can help to deal with stress, anxiety, and depression. This workshop will specifically address wellness and intersectionality within Latin@, LGBT, people of color, and social justice communities. Participants will be invited to create their own tea blend for relaxation.

Mahogany Memoirs embodies the Women’s History Month 2015 theme, Weaving the Stories of Women’s Lives. Come experience the bold narratives of young women who illustrate some of the difficult experiences that go beyond their exterior and examine the internal struggles.

Previously on the calendar for Wed, Mar 11, this evening’s host band is the quintet consisting of Andrew Meyer on trombone, Greg Aker on tenor sax, Ethan Moll on guitar, Jonathan Kies on bass, Andrew Sieff on drums. The band will play the first set starting at 8, then the jam will begin. Andrew Sieff hosts the jam. Columbia Jazz Jam is an organized, open jazz jam—the perfect place for meeting other musicians, having a good time, and making great music!
