The next free public shows at the Columbia Public Schools’ (CPS) Planetarium, located in Rock Bridge High School (4303 S Providence Rd), will be on Saturday, October 10, 2015.
The Planetarium is a wonderful resource for Columbia! For the public shows, an astronomy film is shown on the full overhead dome screen, followed by a star talk—showing the current stars and planets you can find in the night sky. Public shows are held on the second Saturday of the month (except February, which will be the first Saturday). Registration is recommended to ensure a seat, but if you are not registered, you can still go and see if there are openings for a scheduled show. Registration links are posted on the Website approximately two weeks before each public show. Admission is free, and donations of $2 per person are always welcome.

Related events may be held in the building outside the Planetarium, and the Central Missouri Astronomical Association also may set up telescopes in front of the building to view cool sights like solar flares!
This month’s shows:
2:00 pm – Secret of the Cardboard Rocket (recommended for ages 7-12) In this show, visitors travel to all the planets of the solar system while flying on board an imaginary rocket.
3:15 pm – 3000 years of Stargazing (new to CPS Planetarium!) (recommended for ages 12 and up) From Stonehenge and Machu Picchu to the Hubble Space Telescope, visitors retrace the milestones of cosmic discovery in this engaging history of astronomy.
