Highlights:
Laws Observatory is open every Wednesday from 8-10 pm (excepting holidays and inclement weather), and in July 2018, Mars will be the closest to Earth since 2003.

Art
- On Tue, Jul 17, at 10 am, the Museum of Art and Archaeology will hold its monthly Museum Sketching Group. This is a relaxed setting for practicing sketching, and all skill levels are welcome.
- On Wed, Jul 18, at 2 pm, Basquiat Bash: Painting With No Boundaries for kids ages 6-12, is a wonderful time for learning about Jean-Michel Basquiat and creating.
- On Wed Jul 18, at 7 pm, the 8th St. Maker Collective will host its next Social Sketch CoMo at Sager Braudis Gallery. This is an evening for sketching, painting, drawing, needleworking, patching, thinking, and general making. Bring your own supplies and a snack to share and hang out with some other local makers.
Also this week is the next monthly Family Fun Fest (Wed at Cosmos Park), and the next monthly Women’s Intentional Drum Circle (Fri) will be held at Heart, Body, and Soul. For movies, Forrest Gump will be shown outside at Rose Music Hall (Wed) and Son of Bigfoot (Sat) will be playing inside at the Armory. There will be an Open House at Meadowlark School (Sat). If you want to get outdoors, there is a Water Festival educational event (Sat) and Connor’s Cave Tours (Sat & Sun) at Rock Bridge Memorial State Park.
